Why clear aligners (and when they’re best)

Clear aligners are excellent for crowding/spacing, mild‑to‑moderate bite issues and patients who prioritise appearance and hygiene. They’re removable for meals and brushing, which helps protect enamel and gums during treatment.

When braces may be better
Large rotations, complex root torque or big vertical changes can be faster with braces or a hybrid plan. We’ll advise honestly which route best meets your goals and long‑term stability.

How your aligner treatment works

  1. 3D scan & photos — We analyse bite function and facial goals (profile balance, lip support, smile arc).

  2. Staged aligners — Wear 20–22 hours/day; change trays as planned.

  3. Precision steps — Tooth‑coloured attachments and small IPR (enamel polishing) only when indicated.

  4. Refinement — Extra aligners are common to perfect details; they’re built into your plan.

  5. Retention — Retainers and a simple maintenance plan keep your result stable.

Teens & school‑friendly planning

80% of our cases are teens. We plan around exams, sport and hygiene, with clear timelines for parents and practical tips to keep wear‑time on track.

Complex bites and non‑surgical planning

Many open bites, crossbites and relapses can be managed with careful sequencing and, when needed, TADs or a hybrid aligner‑plus‑braces approach. If jaw surgery would lead to a clearly better facial outcome, we explain this early and transparently.

Costs & payment

After assessment you receive a written plan, timelines and transparent fees. 0% EMI options are available. Your plan includes review visits and retention guidance.

Risks & limitations of clear aligners (what to expect)

  • Wear‑time is critical: 20–22 hours/day; poor wear slows or compromises results.

  • Speech/saliva: brief adjustment (24–48h).

  • Attachments may show: tooth‑coloured bumps can stain without good hygiene; removed at the end.

  • IPR (enamel polishing): small, safe reductions between teeth when indicated; sensitivity is uncommon.

  • Refinements are normal: extra trays to perfect details.

  • Movement limits: some rotations/vertical changes are faster with braces or a hybrid plan.

  • Handling trays: remove for meals; avoid hot drinks; lost/warped trays may need replacement.

  • Retention is essential: retainers hold the result long‑term.

FAQs

1) Are clear aligners as effective as braces?
For many cases, yes. Some complex movements are quicker with braces; we’ll recommend the option that meets your goals most predictably.

2) How many hours per day do I wear aligners?
Usually 20–22 hours/day. Remove for meals and brushing; use the case provided so trays aren’t lost or damaged.

3) Will I need attachments or IPR?
Often yes. Attachments (small tooth‑coloured bumps) and minimal IPR help aligners control movements accurately. Attachments are polished off after treatment.

4) How long does treatment take?
Typical cases are 6–18 months, depending on goals, complexity and wear‑time.

5) Can teens use aligners?
Yes—many teens do very well with simple tools and check‑ins to support wear‑time. Parents receive clear timelines and progress reviews.

6) What are the risks or side effects of clear aligners?
Aligners require consistent wear; a brief lisp or extra saliva can occur at first. Attachments may be visible and can stain without good hygiene. Refinements are common. Some movements are quicker with braces. Trays must be removed for meals and hot drinks; lost or warped trays may need replacements. Retainers are required after treatment.

7) When are braces better than aligners?
For large rotations, complex root torque or bigger vertical changes, braces (or a hybrid plan) can be faster and more predictable. See: Braces in Dubai.
